Application Assistant

Dear hadeer, below you find your personal results and next steps for your Chancenkarte application based on your responses.

Chancenkarte score:

Degree recognized

(6+ points)

Congratulations!

Earning full recognition scores likely allows for immediate granting of the Chancenkarte. You can head over to your embassy or consulate right away and apply (make sure to have all papers ready).

This information is based on your input. The ultimate decision on your Chancenkarte application will be taken by your visa officer.

Chancenkarte.com is an independent information portal. We aim to help you come to Germany, find a job and stay here. We are not government-funded and want to stay that way – fast and agile to serve your needs.  Below you find a collection of recommendations that we think are relevant for you and will help you obtain your Chancenkarte more quickly. Some of the links below are so called “affiliate links”. If you end up buying a service from one of the recommended sources, we will get a small compensation. This helps us covering some of the costs of this portal.

Check acceptance for your vocational degree

You have completed a vocational training of at least two years that is government-recognized in the country you obtained it. That is great news! Now we need to make the German government believing this, too. The Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB) recently launched a new portal giving you the option to request an official statement on your vocational qualification online (see link below).
ZAB statement on a foreign vocational qualification
You can apply for a ZAB statement on your vocational qualification completely online. You just need to prepare necessary documents such as a certificate of completion of your vocational training, a transcript of records and an identity document. Note: As the English version seems to not be working correctly, we put a link to the German version instead.

Prove financial means by getting a job in Germany

To apply for the Chancenkarte, you must be able to finance your stay in Germany yourself. As it seems, most embassies are willing to accept an employment contract with a German employer for a 20 hours/week job for this purpose. We are currently setting up a job platform to connect you with potential employers in Germany already before you apply. Feel free to join our waitlist!

Get mandatory health insurance

You need proof of health insurance before you can apply for a Chancenkarte. If you have an employment contract (not Minijob!) that starts on exactly your day of entry, you do not need a separate insurance. However, in most cases you will need to cover at least a few days between your arrival in Germany and your first working day. A health insurance offering that is definitely accepted by the embassies can be booked through our partner Fintiba.

Health insurance from Fintiba (MAWISTA Expatcare)

To live and work in Germany, you are legally required to have health insurance: Our health insurance partner Fintiba will make this process as simple as possible for you. Once you have a 20 hours per week job, you can discontinue your health insurance and rely on the publicly funded health insurance instead. MAWISTA Expatcare costs 69 Euro (€) per month. Charges prior to migration into Germany are limited to one month. Remember you have to book for the full duration of your stay (one year).

Apply via the German embassy in Egypt

After completing all the preparations, you can officially apply for the Chancenkarte! Your Chancenkarte application should normally be made via the German embassy in Egypt (embassy Kairo). If you are from Syria, Libya, Sudan or Yemen, the German embassy in Egypt is also relevant to you. Please prepare the following documents before your appointment (apologies for the many documents!):

  • The completed Online Visa Application
  • Two fully completed application forms
  • Proof of sufficient funding (through a blocked account/Sperrkonto)
  • Full documentation of all skills and experiences you entered in this Application Assistant (e.g. Anabin extract for proving full recognition of your university degree, language certificates, work experience, prove of previous stays). Carefully check all hints we gave you above on this site as they can help you to prove all this.
  • This signed declaration
  • Two recent passport photos
  • Your valid passport plus any older passports you may have
  • Motivation letter, incl. jobs you are interested in, where you want to live in Germany (including details of accommodation), and how you finance this stay
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Health insurance (so-called incoming health insurance) is required at the latest when picking up the visa
  • Proof of the planned accommodation

Here a longer version of the above information.
